..."...I tried applying some Megs UC by hand (as i dont have a DA YET) but that didnt work out..."...

I haven't used Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, but what was the "didn't work out" part/issue with the UC ... didn't it help to remove the swirls? Hand application too much effort? etc...
