The forgotten AM thread...
Hey guys, been a while since I posted some of my work. It's been crazy at the office which combined with overhauling my website for the online shop means I haven't had time to put up any threads in a while Hammerhead

Anyways, this is an old one but due to privacy concerns the owner asked that I not post it online straight away. I actually nearly forgot about it and only remembered whilst going through some photies for the new site.

This vehicle belongs to a regular client of mine and was the 1st customer spec V12 Vantage in the country Drool

This particular job was only a front end prep in preparation for a VPS film install. The rest of the car will be attended to at some point in time Str8pimp

Righty then, 1st up I calipbrated my PTG and took a few readings

Having a PTG gives you a whole lot more confidence knowing how healthy the paint is before starting starting the correction work. The readings were all over the 200um mark which was healthy. Perfect!

Next I tried to capture some of the defects from the front end. Due to the metallic/pearl white colour it was extremely difficult but I managed a few decent pics.

Haziness in the paint and some fine swirling

Overall the paint wasn't in bad condition, but I was surprised to see a vehicle of this value delivered from the factory with such poor paintwork Bawling

After testing a few combo's I settled on 1 hit with SIP followed by 106FA for most of the front end. Some of the poorer areas with some pigtails and sanding marks got 1 hit of FCP followed by SIP and finally FA.

I took a few PTG readings after, most showing only 2 to 3 um of clear coat removal.
