I dont really hold an opinion of the G220, The Makita is very good, and has served me well over the last 8 months and is still going strong. The flex is on a new level for us, it is slightly more of a bastid to work with because of the direct drive system (likes to munch pads if you go over something raised) you have to be more aware of what you are doing with it, The makita on the other hand has the option of switching between direct drive or normal DA, I have always used mine in normal mode and get very good results with it, the only thing that the flex has 1 up on the Makita is when it comes to time consumed doing the same job!
