Washed wheels with Megs Wheel Brightener
Washed car with Megs Hyper wash
Cleaned the engine bay and dressed plastic components
Clayed
Cleaned interior and applied Wynns leather cream
Quick wash again
Applied Megs Ultimate Compound – I wasn’t really happy, probably coz I didn’t have a cutting pad?
Applied Auto Glym S.R.P
Applied C.G Butter wax
Adams detail spray
Rim wax
Tyres dressed with Endurance tyre gel
Applied Megs plast X polish to the lights
Polished tail pipes with Autosol
Dressed plastic trimming with Megs Natural shine protectant

I used the Megs Yellow polishing pad, i purchased my machine recently so im not clued up.
The swirls were gone, just those surface scratches were a prob.

With the last few details you have posted here and on other forums, I am convinced that you have landed a contract with the local VW agent to prep their used vehicles for delivery .

One of the frustrating anomalies of detailing - swirling hides/masks a lot of the more serious RIDS. These then become glaringly obvious once the swirls are removed.

Don't give up on Ultimate Compound and polishing pad combination. I've tried it using a Meguiar's G220 dual action polisher and a Makita BO6040 DA polisher, and it works. Revisit your process / application:

• is your pad clean throughout the polishing process;
  
• don't drench the pad with too much product or quick detailer (prepping the pad) as this reduces the cutting power;
  
• most importantly, work in small sections at a time. Trying to buff a full panel in one go will not get the best out of your polish;
  
• apply "enough" pressure on the head of the machine

As priority I usually aim to remove swirls and I try not to focus too much on removing the deep scratches instead, after polishing I ensure that I clean the paint with a paint cleaner (Megs Paint Cleaner) which immediately reduces their (RDS) appearence, then I apply a nice glaze (CG EZ Creme Glaze) which further cleans and fills these areas resulting in further reducing their visability and I let the glaze cure for 20 min before I proceed with a wax/sealant. This process results in the RDS been less visible than before intstead of eating away at the clear.

I do... I apply 1 spray of Quik Detailer when i commence and during the process I just wipe the pad with a damp microfibre towel.

I don't apply much pressure tho... afraid of damaging the paint.
