Paint Correction - Shield Orbital

just wanted to show what a shield orbital buffer can do. I was Surprised.

Look at the Difference on the bonnet between the Blue tape: Swirls.....




Now look at this picture:
I used the Shield Orbital with Chemical Guys Laser buff. It basically took me about 10 mins less to do this. As you can see the correction is not completed but its just one slow pass with the machine.

So ja, there you have it.Some correction can be achieved with the shield Buffer.

Personally I used a shield orbital in my earlier stages of detailing and also got some cut, but it is negligible compared to what a purpose built polishing machine will give you and not to mention the difference in time spent working, between the 2

Wrking time...If it took me 10 mins with the shild, what would it take you with the DA or rotary?

Cant really say, but you will definitely get better results in a whole lot less time.

It seems ok, what car was it on ?

Have never seen a Shield do anywhere near that kind of correction on any of the harder paints out there though

it was on a 2005 Toyota tazz. I think its 2005 :-)

Wow, i never knew my 22" monitor would not be big enough. A proper DA or Rotary machine will get more correction done in a shorter period of time than a Shield orbital. I also had a shield but found it didnt really add much over what hand polishing could do. But not bad for a first try. Just try take before and after pics of the same spots and in the same light, that will give a better representation of the level of correction which will make it easier for you to evaluate your work and quicker for you to learn how to take it a step further.
Tazz paint, though im not sure if you can call it Japanese, I dont think it would be very high on the hardness scale, let alone ceramiclear levels.
But keep it up enthusiasm is great.

All Toyota's are pretty much like Honda's as far as I am aware, they both sport what is often referred to as 'soft' clear coats

Try get yourself a black panel from a newish german vehicle to practice on. We have found the newer Audi's and MB clear coats to be about the hardest paints out there at the moment
