Harley Davidson 883 Sportsline
#1
Cool
So after lots of practice, on my own bike, I got asked to do first officially paid detail on a Harley Davidson 883 Sportline based on the success I have had on my own bike, so thought I would give it ago although had no ideal how bad the bikes condition was actually going to be, until it arrived!!!

1st Problem, checkers packet stuck and melted onto chrome exhaust, left for three or four weeks to reheat and cool multiple times Hammerhead

2nd the bike was very dirty, the chrome dull, the aluminium faded and lacking luster, and the bike was full of swirls, spider webs, scratches and some stuff I don't think theirs even detailing terms for lol

Anyway cracked on, here are a few of the before shots I took, and of course the end result, please note this was a complete hand polish, wax and swirl removal process as I don't have a DA yet, but hoping to have one soon...

@kripstoe reference plastic off exhaust Bluebiggrin

I used Black & Decker heat gun used for removing paint, I heated small areas at a time until the plastic started to bubble, the took a damp Microfibre cloth and wiped the heated plastic in a single direction and repeated until it was all off, took me a couple of hours but no damage to the chrome at all, once the pipe was cool I used nevr-dull and buffed the pipes up.

Hope that helps?

I also read up that oven cleaner would do the job, but was a tad scared to try Harley Screaming Egale performance pipes are not cheap and was not worth the risk, took the slowly slowly approach, customer said he would have paid me R650 just for sorting the pipe out lol not and for first paid detail thou, he was very chuffed with the complete end result that was the most rewarding part of it all
