BMW 5 Series Detail
#1
The time came to give the wife's car a detail ... permission was finally obtained. Not really! Bluebiggrin

Due to time constraints I split the detail over two weekends; initially focusing on the wheels, chassis and engine before polishing the body panels and cleaning the interior.

Some befores:

Did the usual rinse, foam, wash with CG Maxi-Suds II and Blade APC, followed by claying using the Megs Smooth Surface kit, before drying and taping the car for polishing:

Here's a quick before and after pic once I completed a single hit (6 section passes) with Menz Power Gloss on a green LC pad.

After 1 x 6 passes:

I eventually polished each panel 3 x 6 passes with the Power Gloss and green LC pad before completing with Final Finish on a yellow 3M polishing pad.

Here are some before/after pics from the previous week:

Wheels were removed, cleaned using APC and clayed before being sealed with Wolfgang Deep Gloss paint sealant 3.0:

While the wheels were off the car, I gave the calipers, wheel arch's trim and sound insulating material a good scrub with APC:

I gave the exhaust pipes the same treatment as with with Audi ... MacGyver'd a wool bonnet over a drill bit and let loose for about 5 minutes on each side. Here's a comparison between the two (right pipe was only hand polished at this stage):

The engine was sprayed with APC, brushed and rinsed before the Megs Engine Dressing was applied and wiped:

Interior was vacuumed, leather cleaned using a mild APC dilution, brushed and wiped. Megs leather foam was allowed to soak before being wiped off. Sonax matt cockpit cleaner was applied to the other bits:

Car was then re-washed, dried and a coat of Wolfgang Deep Gloss paint sealant 3.0 applied and allowed to cure overnight. The next day a final coat of Collinite Marque de Elegance was applied and the wheels dressed with Megs Endurance tyre gel.

The afters:

Thanks zckid! I started with 5.5 (Shield DAS6) and medium pressure for the Power Gloss and reduced to 4 on the final passes. I Kept the Final Finish speed at 3 with very light pressure.
