My BMW 540i makeover thread
Well I have now changed the thread title, I'll update as I go along with bringing this beautiful car back to her former glory.

So after searching for quite a long time I finally found that deal I have been looking for.

These pics are to illustrate the condition I got her in and to base my progress on.

Its a 94 model 540i with 226k kms on the clock with FSH
Picked this car up for a song!
Car hasnt been started in 6 months, hence the spots of mould on the leather.

........and so it begins!! Popcorn time.Bluebiggrin

First of all congratulations. I lurve the V8! Hope you realise what the fuel consumption is?

I had a 1992 525 i same body shape and ended up doing 325 000 kms with it. It was practically indestructable. Always wanted the V8.

I look forward to a full on detail.

Oh, PS Don, those wheels are going to be a bitch to clean Rofl

As much as I love the wheels, I plan on changing them for a 16or17" deep dish staggered setup.

dude that I got it from doesnt like how you "stick" to leather and put it on, nice thing is that the leather is absolutely 100% under that cover Bluebiggrin

I think I will take the seat cover off.... dye it pink and make a dash board cover with it Rofl

RE: My BMW 540i makeover thread
Word in, car is starting but no oil pressure. Before stripping the engine, the sump is going to come off tomorrow, oil pump checked and cylinder walls scoped for scoring.

Will let you guys know what the outcome is

RE: My BMW 540i makeover thread
It could be that the old oil has made some crap. A new oil & filter might help. maybe a engine flush is a good idea.

just 2c

They are just worried about how long the previous owner might have driven it like that. These 540's have a aluminium block so there is a big chance that the cylinders are scored Sad
