The Poor-boys detailed an E90 325i
Saturday was a CRAZY day for us, it started at 5:50am! We had to collect a car, start with it and then go and detail another car, then return to finish the first car. I post details of the first car in a new thread, but for now this is the second car.....

We expected this to be a quick easy one, being a 2005 e90, it was quite a new car and also has no beadings on the door and a nice flat easy to work on bonnet.

BOY where we wrong! this car had very bad paint contamination and some very bad swirls! not to mention birg dropping etches and RIDS all over the place.

Not bothered by all this, we set out washing the car first, then claying, we knew that the first car from the day was going to be a back breaker to clay, but did not expect what came next.....

This is a picture of the clay after claying the small section between the BMW badge and the 325i badge on the BACK of the bootlid!!!!

The rest of the car was worse in some places and slightly better in some, in total it took us about 2.5hrs to clay this car.

We then pulled it out in the sun to take a few pics of the swirls

And some etching from bird droppings, which came out with Menzerna SIP and a cutting pad

and just something I thought I would add is a picture of flashed Menzerna SIP residue

After all the correction was done, I got to applying a new product that Carn sent us samples of, namely DP Premium sealant. While Megesh got busy with the leather. Megesh has perfected a new technique of cleaning leather, where you actually do little sections at a time and push the dirt away from the clean area. I will take a video clip of this when we next do leather so that you can see how effective it is. Here is a pic of the center armrest after Megesh did a little section

Finally it was time to wipe off the cured DP Premium, and wow was it easy to wipe off! It was like wiping dust off the paint surface. We where extremely impressed with the results yeilded, and here are a few pics of the finished product

Nice work Poor-boys.

Some serious bonded contaminants in evidence - I hope you charged a premium for the extra clay used to get through all that gunk.

I notice from the reflection shots that Megesh doesn't seem to take to well to early morning starts Bluebiggrin.

I would have liked to have seen some full sun shots of the afters.

RE: The Poor-boys detailed an E90 325i
thanks guys,

yeah the early morning took its toll, and I think Megesh looked liked that because he was thinking about the next car we had to go and get busy with Bluebiggrin

WRT the full sun shots, we didnt want to bug ppl to move cars again, so that we could get this one out into the sun, we also didnt really have time to go through all that Sad

Great work as usual Don and Megesh.Clap

Regarding the huge effort that went into the claying, is this not a case where it would have been worth using a paint cleaner like Meguiars DC1 to remove all the old wax and other gunk and then clayed the surface to prepare it for polishing?
