Poor-Boys Onyx MKIII GTi
We started at 7:00 and finished at 14:00 on this one, so we made good time! I think we owe our thanks to the Flex which was brilliant again!

Products Used:

Wash:

Megs Shampoo Plus
Vikan Body Brush
Mothers Fenderwell Brush
Mobile Image Detailing brush
Adams Waffle Weave drying towel
Adams Detail Spray
Megs All Purpose Cleaner 4:1

Paint prep::

Poor-Boys Soft Clay (Yellow)
Chemical Guys MF cloths
California MF cloths
Scotch 3M Painters Tape
Adams Polishing towels

Paint Correction:

Flex VRG3401XC
Lake Country Light Cutting Pads
Menzerna SIP (PO85RD 3.02)
Distilled Water
Menzerna Top Inspection

LSP:

Chemical Guys - Extreme Top Coat Sealant with 3x Carnauba

Trim, Glass and wheels:

Chemical Guys Fade 2 Black (WHAT an amazing product!!! Note how good all the trim and beading looks in the pics)
Adams V.R.T (Tyres)
Autoglym Fast Glass
Vikan Lustre towel (glass cleaning MF)
Adams Metal Polish (exhaust tip)
Smartwax Rimwax

We started off washing at about 7:15.... it was FLIPPEN cold!
I took this pic of the buckets, again demonstrating the importance of 2 bucket method! (its not just to get you to buy an extra bucket)

Some shots taken in the sunlight after the wash and dry, just to show the Swirls

We corrected this scuff 100%

As you can see from this pic, the car had a lot of RDS's

and a nice example of strike through from the previous "detailer" that had worked on the car

I took limited pic of the correction process (we were busy) but thought I had to show this, some before and after pics of the window surrounds

before:

After:

These where pics taken to show the reflection prior to LSP, this was obtained with only the use of Lake Country Light Cutting Pads and Menzerna SIP (PO85RD 3.02)

This picture shows how the flake became clearly visible in the paint after polishing

Chemical Guys Extreme Top Coat was applied and left to cure for about 30mins, then buffed off and this was the result:

Pretty..... no swirls.....

And as a little something extra this time...... Some rolling shots

And finally 1 pic of Flamingo Vlei

Excellent work, another superb finish. Great results on the trim, Golf/Jetta III trim can get very dry and at times even starts to peal off.

Now I see the power of the Chemical Guys Extreme Top Coat, it left a clear surface to allow the flake to pop (sealant qualities) and a lovely wet look (carnauba qualities).

I enjoyed reading the write up and have a few questions, I see that you used Menzerna Top Inspection. Is this available of Poor Boys now? I thought this product would have nullified the introduction of distilled water to the process?

Is the CG trim spray the same product offered by Adams?

What are your thoughts on the Smartwax Rim wax, is it more of a cleaner or sealant?

Have you guys used the Vikan brush on a recently detailed car to test whether it introduces its owne marring or not?

The Top Inspection that I have was a demo given to me to try out, it is very similar to the usual IPA mix 50/50 IPA and Distilled Water. The Top Inspection actually worked wonders to clean the old dried up wax from the trim, before we treated it.

The Distilled water that we are using is ONLY distilled water and not mixed with anything. This is being used to prime pads, as many quick detailers contain wax or synthetic polymers which reduce the friction that the pad can generate on the paint surface and thereby dont allow product to break down properly.

Starvekos Wrote:Is the CG trim spray the same product offered by Adams?

It is very similar, but seems to be wetter than the In and Out spray offered by Adams. It is also NOT a silicone based spray but butane based instead

Starvekos Wrote:What are your thoughts on the Smartwax Rim wax, is it more of a cleaner or sealant?

I cannot say enough good things about this product! it is a very good cleaner and at the same time, a brilliant sealant! megesh was cleaning tar spots off a mag today with it. I know for a fact that the Rimwax is indeed a very good sealant aswel, after applying it to the inside of my wheels about 2 months ago, last weekend the brake dust and muck simply brushed out the inside of the wheels with the Megs rim brush and a normal solution of Shampoo plus and water Bluebiggrin

Starvekos Wrote:Have you guys used the Vikan brush on a recently detailed car to test whether it introduces its owne marring or not?

To be 100% honest with you, I would not recommend this brush for normal washing and say that you rather stick to a MF product for maintenance.
As a pre detail cleaning tool, this brush is brilliant, it gets into all the nooks and crannies and is much quicker to rinse off and go again than a MF wash mitt.
