Advice required: takkies for the Golf

Years ago I bought a BMW325i (old square shape - forget the code). Anyways it came with Goodyear G something tyres and I spun the car in the wet on High Level Road at night. Next day I went out and put on top of the range Yokohama tyres and it absolutely transformed the car.

I lived in Hout Bay at the time and worked in town so whichever way I comuted always involved lots of sharp corners. The car stuck to the road like sh*t on a shovel.
