Remini Red LR Freelander - Take 2
I did a complete detail on my wife’s car during the December 2009 break. However, at some stage during my commuting phase between Cape Town and JHB, I noticed some serious damage on the one side of the vehicle…
Let’s just say that in the interest of saving our marriage, we have decided to “park” the discussion about how and where this damage happened, but it seems that some idiot drove into the vehicle while it was parked. That is Scenario A. Scenario B is apparently not possible ![]() Anyway, after we relocated (driving the car down to Cape Town), I decided that it was a good time to detail it again. My main aim was to remove the scratches on the side, if possible. I used the following products from my stock and a recent purchase from Carn: Megs Gold Class Shampoo Adams Clay Kit CG Cut 1.5 Menzerna PO 203S Collinite 845 303 Aerospace Protectant Raceglaze Leather Kit Sonax Glass Cleaner Some random before pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() LOL at ex-Vaalies visiting the beach every day in Winter! ![]() The affected area before washing: ![]() ![]() Work in Progress: All taped up and nowhere to go ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The affected area after washing: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I initially tried using only the Menzerna PO 203S, but some of the scratches were too deep. Thereafter I used the CG Cut 1.5 with the orange LC pad followed by the Menz with the white HL pad. This seemed to do the trick, although some fine scratches are still visible. (Question to the experts : I guess a rotary will be the next step if I want to remove all the fine deep scratches?) Final reflection shots: ![]() ![]() ![]() Some random after pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I was very impressed with the Menzerna PO 203S and Collinite 845. Both really go on and off very easy and leaves a very nice finish. The 303 Aerospace Protectant finish seemed very nice in the garage, but after some exposure to rain / dew it does not seem to last very long... The Raceglaze Leather Kit must be the best leather care product I have used to date. I was very impressed with the ease of application and the leather smells brand new again. In fact, the whole car inside smells like a new one. ![]() Thanks for looking! |
