Engine Detail

Hi everyone

These are two of the engine detailing that I’ve done. The 1st car is a Toyota Corolla NZE and the 2nd one is a Honda Civic.

Used MPC, various brushes and the hose as usual.

I’m not up to the level of the pros (I’d say 60% :iono here but there’s always an improvement in the next try.

As from my experience, the Toyota’s engine is easier to clean than the Honda’s as it’s more space.
I’d like to know how you go about cleaning engines that occupy all the space under the bonnet as it’s the hands that get swirls and scratches .

omg it's taken a very long time to clean the engine. I'd like to know how you can be time efficient.

Your suggestions and useful advice are most welcome.

Great improvement. Engines can be so frustrating, you can clean an engine for hours, and then you look at it from a different angle and it looks dirty again.

I'm always scared of getting moisture around the plugs and electronics with the result that I end up with a half clean engine.... Has anyone had experience with the polo engine bays?

Something i avoid except for a wipe down every now and then!

Had to replace my pencil coils a while back and... well.... nervous

Calypso summed up everything. The very next time you take a look at the engine , there are dirty spots. The problem is that water hides all the dirt and its impossible to verify whether you've scrubbed every accessible inch of it.

I've adopted a method that i"ve seen works better. While spraying the MPC liberally on the engine, I also spray it on the brush before rubbing, and then rinsing the agitated section with water. It takes more time though but the engine is cleaner afterwards.

The downside of it is that as you work the top-down, water flows downwards and it becomes difficult to notice the dirt and leave them uncleaned.

As for Polo engines, i never worked on it unfortunately. But as far as the the plugs and electronics, well I use one PaintBrush with MPC and another soaked in water to rinse by agitating it. It does quite a good job.
