Mazda 3 by Kido
Phew I'm glad this detail is over! The paintwork was in a state most of the paint was heavily oxidized.
Pity the camera wasn't charged therefore didn't get before pics. The roof was badly contaminated I doubt this car had seen a wax, so was the boot, the bonnet is badly etched from bird bombs its gone right through the paint. The entire vehicle was badly swirled and dull. Car was washed with CG maxi suds and dried with a waffle weave, the paint contamination was so bad that I could feel and hear my waffle weave catch onto the paint as I was drying the car, it literally felt like sand paper. The car was then clayed with last touch as lube. After claying was done the car was washed and dried again. G220 with orange LC pad, polish used was a combo of Menzerna SIP and FA. The tail lights where dull and lifeless they were brought back to life with Menz FA With polishing complete I glazed with CG Ez creme and LC finishing pad and waxed with 915. Windows got Mothers glass cleaner. Trim got CG New Car shine dressing Wheels got wheel wax and tires got CG New Car shine dressing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=820qNhWyi54 Enjoy the vid. |

Awesome work Kido, such a pity that there were no befores, always great to see the transformation, especially with that end result! How long did the correction phase take you, and how did you manage to completely correct those bird bombs that you described? I have been so nervous of bird droppings, I was under the impression they were impossible to correct 100%, obviously not, yay!!
Well done again. |

RE: Mazda 3 by Kido
@ Wells when I find anything that goes straight through the paint I don't bother trying to rectify it cause that is a job for the "Shop". I simply stick to the process of paint prep which results in some defects becoming easier on the eye yet still visible. These bird bombs left such bad defects that the paint within the centre of the etching had actually created fine cracks within the paint. If you have a look again at the vid you will be able to see that when I pan over the bonnet the bird droppings etching is still visible.
Thanks to all for comments! |

Nice work Kido, the car looks great
@ Wells. Not all bird bombs are straight through the clear coat...It all depends on how long they have been sitting on the paint as well as their acidity. Some of the funky coloured ones (purples, reds and yellows) seem to be alot harsher than the regular ones. I suspect this is as a result of the bird having some form of fruit in it's diet which adds to the acid levels David : 083 642 2118 www.mobileimage.co.za |

Thanks for sharing. From your description of the "before" it looks like a real transformation.
