Traffic fines - calypso - 05-04-2009 04:24 PM

Maybe someone with some knowledge of traffic law can help with this.

I got 2 fines at the same time. 1 for speeding and one for no front plate. Thing is i remember when this happened, the dude on the lazy didnt swing around to get my back plate, some fat chick on the side wrote it down on a notepad as i came past.
So I'm wondering how i can try get out of the fine, because if I ask for the footage it will be me bomding down in the M3, but there will be no plate. So how would i go about trying to get out of this. I never pay fines, but the broke student line is getting old.

Any ideas?

Unfortunately, I can't add to this, but I'm certainly interested to know the best route, as I have no front plate too...

Send them a letter requesting the photograph and calibration certificates for the machine they trapped you with. The certificate needs to be dated for the day of the fine. I think you can also request an operators competency certificate as well but I am not sure. Other than that if you do get the photo the vehicle needs to be clearly visible (no other cars/objects obstructing any part of the vehicle) and the laser/radar x-hair needs to be centred on the plate (more or less).

Let us know how it goes Bluebiggrin

This is the reply. Any ideas?

Good day Alexi,
These offences are video taped. Unfortunaltely we do not copy the tapes. You are hereby invited to make an appointment with the camera/video section on telephone number 041-4021125 for viewing. Just bring the fines with you.
Sorry for the inconvenience but that is the way we work.
Make an appointment that will suit you.
If you need anything further regarding this you can contact me on 041-4021044.
Thank you
Mrs. RZ Alberts.

Ask for the calibration and competency certificates for the equipment and operator for the day and location of your offence. Do this in writing, if it can't be provided the fines are invalid Wink

OK will let you know tomorrow if that copy paste works.

No man, I must take the back plate off then they wont know its me. So far i think hiding is the best option.
