Corsa restoration - calypso - 27-12-2008 11:16 PM

My sister is selling her car, it looks like shit so she asked for my help to make it a little more presentable. Its about 18 months old and looks like it was occasionally cleaned with a scourer + VIM. Also as far as i know, the car is used as a chew toy for her 2 large dogs.

Im calling this a restoration firstly because I've never had a paint put up such a fight. Also i was not looking for 90% or even 80% correction, just trying to clean it up to make it more presentable.

Here is the car, after a CWG strong wash and clay with claymagic mild with adams detail spray.

Lovely how photography makes teh car look half decent.

What made me feel a little better was that the car was made half plastic

Oeff but my poor black wow.

Anyways these are the swirls/RIDS that were on hand.

Took alot of experimenting to get something that worked consitently. Ended up with the LCC cutting pad and Menz SIP followed up by the Menz FF on the Black finessing pad.
Which ended up with things looking like this.

Not perfect, but alot better. As you can see even with wetsanding it didnt help they keying much.

Just about finished the Menz SIP all around and will finish of the FF tomorrow. LSP is going to be something cheap and nasty as its not like the car is ever cared for.

Awesome correction there Calypso...poor Corsa certainly took a beating. Keying...man if I ever saw someone keying anyone's car...I'd seriously break that person!

Yeah, well atleast the bare metal underneath is really shiny

Day 2 - calypso - 28-12-2008 05:05 PM

Needed to finish off today becasue of all the dostractions yesterday. MTN network failure, friends Bday, ect.
SO I woke up bright and early (11am) to finish the job.
Had a nice breakfast of Pastitsio (Greek Lasange) and coffee. My favorite.

Went outside to get cracking but God tried to sidetrack me, the weather was beautiful.

Anyways enough of that and back to work. My constuction light promtly blew both bulbs, one yesterday and one today. Luckily i collect floodlights so i had 2 spare bulbs.

Hmm, wonder if this would help.

Finished with the IP on the car and followed up with FF on the big panels + anything else that looked like it needed it. Car was pretty dusty so I gave it a little CWG foam + rinse.

Some pics after drying, before LSP.

That scratch also would not come out with wetsanding.

LSP time, i was yet again distracted.

Oeff

Bonnet got P21S cleaner lotion + P21S 100% wax. Came out pretty well.

Rest of the car just had an IPA wipedown followed by an application of Megs NXT liquid wax v1. No need for durability as the car is gonna be gone soon. And I'm trying to get into the habit of using things up first before moving on to new products.

Always enjoy reading your "Show and Shine" posts albeit they are infrequent. Lovely correction on black, your correction work produced a mirror like finish.
