Audi 100 - 1976 - AMD001 - 28-04-2010 12:08 PM Sorry about the poor quality of the photos,I took them with my phone. Digital camera will be arriving soon. I decided to do a quick wash & wax on my brothers Audi yesterday I started off with the interior first. ![]() Removed the seat covers,Vacuum all over,Used apc on the dash, door panels & seats,Then treated with the chemical guys all in one dressing. ![]() ![]() I tackled the exhaust next. ![]() Sprayed some apc & used a old sponge to clean up,Then finished off with some blue b gone. ![]() Then it was time for the wheels.Unfortunately there is only 1 before pic. Used some apc on the front wheel wells with a fender brush.Alot of muck came out.washed the wheels with a old sponge. The steelies need a refurb so not much time was spent on them. ![]() Foamed with Sonax gloss shampoo ![]() Rinsed & then used the 2 bucket method of washing. Clayed using the 4 star clay & chemical guys pro detailer,I had to throw the clay away after we finished.Sorry no pics of the clay. Then we rinsed again & dried with a drying towel. The paint was in a very bad state & it was very thin.So we opted to use mirror finish by chemical guys & then finished off with smartwax. Some pics of the afters. ![]() ![]() ![]() [img] RE: Audi 100 - 1976 - Jughead - 28-04-2010 02:39 PM Nicely done AMD001 ...!!! ![]() ... reminds me ![]() ![]() RE: Audi 100 - 1976 - onyx - 28-04-2010 02:44 PM Nice! (my my my how far have dashboards come!) How are you finding Sonax Gloss Shampoo through the foam lance? Doesnt seem to 'stick' much? Finish looks great, but i'd bet a polish followed by your Wet Mirror Finish/Smartwax would look even better! Thanks Jughead,The Apc worked like a charm & the blue b gone,It was the first time i used the blue b gone & Im impressed with it.What do you use for the Tailpipes? I actually used the sonax car wash shampoo(the orangish redish colour one),To be honest im not that impressed with it.I used the Sonax gloss shampoo(orange almost honey colour) last weekned & the foam was much thicker but it also does not stick. What shampoo do you use with the foam lance? RE: Audi 100 - 1976 - Carn - 28-04-2010 07:05 PM Nice work dude ![]() If you dig up my original test thread for the foam lances you will see that the Sonax Hi-Gloss shampoo didn't really work all that well at the specified (200:1) dilution ratio. I have found the CG's CWC foams really nicely and if mixed at the correct dilution ratio is LSP friendly ![]() RE: Audi 100 - 1976 - AMD001 - 28-04-2010 07:26 PM (28-04-2010 07:05 PM)Carn Wrote: Nice work dude Thanks David,Ill try the CG's CWC soon. Im planning on finishing the 2 bottles sonax first. They both around 50%.Then im going to use the CWC. RE: Audi 100 - 1976 - calypso - 28-04-2010 07:50 PM Nice work! Well done on a nice bit of work. ![]() RE: Audi 100 - 1976 - Jughead - 28-04-2010 10:01 PM Hi AMD001 ... I've only cleaned my tailpipes once ... Myself ... I used Meguiar NXT All metal polish ... Although it says cleans and polishes ... It required a lot more "passion" than actual product to clean the black off the tailpipes ... I'm looking for a Sonax Xtreme Rim Cleaner type product to make it interesting !!! Colour changer !!!! Haha!!! ... Other times just some APC with brush/sponge/lappie and then the NXT All Metal Polish ... on another website ... A guy used fine soft-ish steelwool type material with product as well ??? ... ...Back in the day when I was a "laaitie" ... I use to hose water down the tailpipes thinking I was cleaning it ... only to find the exhaust box rusted a few months later ... I actually saw this still being done at a carwash recently ... bliksem!!! RE: Audi 100 - 1976 - AMD001 - 29-04-2010 08:31 AM (28-04-2010 09:17 PM)springbok Wrote: That old girl is looking good. Hey Jughead My bm tailpipe & box was looking horrible,I sprayed some apc & left if for 10 minutes,I agitated it with a fender brush. Then I rinsed it.I had little bit of autosol left over & autoglym metal polish,So i used steelwool for the inside of the tailpipe & it worked tops for me.Then I used a old microfibre to wipe it clean on the inside. Then I applied the autoglym metal polish all over the box & tailpipe,It removed alot of dirt. Then another MF for wiping everywhere. The tailpipe was looking good but i still have to tackle the box a few times. Some car washes really take chances,Thats why alot of guys mild steel systems dont last even a year. The worst is the car washes that apply the autosol on the wheel lips,It looks nice & shiny & few weeks later the clear is coming of. |
